(4.13) Mini Watercolor Polaroid Sip and Paint: What do mountains and wine have in common?

$100.00

Wine and watercolor go together! Let’s explore this curiosity with a workshop to paint mountain landscapes, developing new skills in watercolor, and appreciation for wine.

I’ll be joined by my friend Ben Lynn, founder of Vinos Pingüinos — a full-service wine curation experience — for a special event of creativity and connection at the Birch Road Club on Seattle’s First Hill.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of watercolor and we’ll explore wine terroir and geology as a point of inspiration and creativity.  — with a palette for both paints and pours. You will also learn how to create your own mini watercolor mountain Polaroid.

Space is limited to 8 participants!

FAQ:

Do I need to prepare anything prior to the workshop?

No preparation is required — all materials will be provided.

What skill level is this class?

This class is perfect for beginners and those with little watercolor experience. If you’re curious about watercolor basics and want to build your skills to use at home or outdoors, this is the class for you.

What can I expect in this 1.5-hour sip and paint?

In the first 30 minutes, I’ll walk you through the materials, how to hold a brush, and introduce watercolor theory like value and color concentration. We’ll also practice basic techniques used to create beautiful, expressive paintings.

The remaining hour will be spent applying those techniques to create a mini mountain polaroid, with hands-on guidance and plenty of time for questions. We’ll also have a guided tasting of 3-4 unique wines. Bottles will be available for purchase at the end of class.

What will this class not cover?

Please note that this is not a drawing class — we won’t focus on sketching or image composition. This class also won’t dive deep into color theory or advanced mixing. Instead, I’ll provide a curated palette of colors for you to explore and play with.

Where is the workshop?

Birch Road is a private social club located in the carriage house behind the historic Stimson-Green mansion. When you arrive, buzz the doorbell and we will greet you. Please note the workshop will be hosted up a flight of stairs. There is a restroom nearby.

Where do I park?

There is a small parking lot adjacent to the mansion, and you may park there if sports are available, Since this workshop falls on a Sunday, street parking is FREE as well. The G and 2 lines run nearby, transit is encouraged

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on. While watercolors are water-soluble, some pigments can stain (as can some wines).

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to reschedule, please notify me at least one week in advance. While I can’t offer refunds, I’ll do my best to help resell your ticket and provide a refund if your spot is filled.
